The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers is proud to present the SMPTE UK Media Technology Conference 2022. Produced in partnership with the Broadcast Tech & Sport Group, this event will be held on 29 June at the iconic BFI Southbank in London.
In-person and unashamedly technical, this landmark event will bring together leading industry technologists to present and debate topics affecting the whole industry at the present time. Guaranteed to be opinionated and challenging, discussion will run through the entire event. Audience participation will be encouraged.
The conference will feature two tracks, one focused on Creative Technology, including Virtual Production; Cloud Technology for Production and Post, and Next-Generation Studio Pipeline. The second track will look at Technology Infrastructure, tackling thorny questions such as whether a Standards-based approach or a Proprietary one is best for practical IP studio builds; whether to choose Public Cloud or Private Virtual Infrastructure; and what use is 5G really for broadcasters?
This one-day conference is aimed at senior technology leaders and their teams in broadcast, production and media distribution companies as well as graduates and students entering the industry. Attendance will equip individuals with a practical understanding of upcoming technologies, their strengths and weaknesses; and the experiences others have had in implementing them.
The event will bring together the broadcast and media industry to network during several refreshment breaks during the day, including a drinks reception in the early evening. The BFI Southbank in central London is the national centre for film and the moving image, making it the perfect location for this conference.
SMPTE is an organisation dedicated to growing and equipping young talent in the media industry. We are therefore making available a number of discounted tickets for junior engineers. Each full-price ticket qualifies the purchaser to buy two discounted tickets, enabling a senior engineer to bring two junior team members to the conference. Numbers are limited so book early! We are also making available a limited number of complimentary tickets for students, courtesy of our sponsors.
The SMPTE UK Media Technology Conference is the latest event to be created and curated by the Broadcast Tech & Sport Group. The Group produces a wide range of conferences including the annual Broadcast TechFest; Broadcast Sport Innovation Forum; Broadcast Sport Content Summit; and the Broadcast Sport Leaders’ Summit, as well as industry-leading awards, the Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards and Broadcast Sport Awards.
